When Hayden Kettle moved to Rockhampton in 2024, he was a mix of excitement and nerves. He had always been drawn to the mining industry, but the lacked the qualifications and certifications.
Despite his enthusiasm, the thought of starting from scratch was overwhelming, and he felt a bit lost.
His journey took a positive turn when he discovered IntoJobs, part of the IntoWork Group. The Rockhampton team saw his potential and was determined to help him achieve his dreams. They referred him to Five Bridges, a reputable training provider, for the Cert III Driving Operations course.
Over the next few months, Hayden threw himself into the program and successfully obtained his HR License. This achievement was a huge confidence booster and opened up a world of new opportunities.
With his new license in hand, the Rockhampton team at IntoJobs knew Hayden needed more to stand out in the competitive mining job market. They funded his Standard 11 Certification, which added a significant edge to his resume and made him a more attractive candidate for mining roles.
To broaden his skill set, IntoJobs also referred him to a Local Jobs program focused on aviation. Although he didn’t complete this program, it was during this time that he got his big break with ISS, a multinational company, offering him a job as a Utility All Rounder in Central Queensland. For the first time, Hayden felt a sense of belonging and purpose.
IntoJobs provided him with all the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure he was fully prepared. Eager to prove himself, Hayden continued to push forward. In March, he obtained his Forklift License, adding another valuable skill to his toolkit. His hard work didn’t go unnoticed, and he was soon offered a new job through OTRACO, a leading mining company, as a Tyre Fitter—a dream come true.
IntoJobs Mobile Employment Consultant Amanda Simpson was thrilled to see Hayden’s progress, “Hayden is not just surviving; he is thriving. His performance has been outstanding, and he has quickly become an integral part of the team at OTRACO. He’s on track to reach 26 weeks of employment. Each step he took was a stepping stone that helped him build the skills and confidence he needed to get where he is today. Seeing him transform from a newcomer with no mining qualifications to a skilled Tyre Fitter is incredibly inspiring. It shows that with the right support, anyone can overcome their challenges and achieve their dreams.”
